Letter to Patients

Ardingly Court Surgery

Dr V Sutcliffe - Dr H Dirmikis - Dr P Greany - Dr S Barker

Dr E Turlini - Dr Z Ballantyne

Dear Patient,

We are writing to you because you are a patient of the Ardingly Court GP Practice.

As you may know, the Ardingly Court GP Practice operates over two sites – the city centre site at Ardingly Street  and the Whitehawk site at the Wellsbourne Health Centre.

We are writing to let you know that, from 1st April 2018, the current service will operate as two separate practices serving their own neighbourhoods, but based at the same two sites.

The doctors who work at the practice now will each be based at one site only from April 1st; Dr Sutcliffe, Dr Dirmikis, Dr Greany, Dr Ballantyne, Dr Beesley and Dr McGavin plan to be based at the Wellsbourne Health Centre in Whitehawk.  Dr Barker and Dr Turlini will be based at Ardingly Street in Kemptown and plan to move to the Palace Place site from September 2018.

You will not be left without GP care at any time and none of the existing doctors intend to stop providing medical care in the city.

What do I need to do now?

You need to decide which doctors you would like to see and which practice you wish to stay registered with – either Ardingly Street or the Wellsbourne Health Centre.   After April 2018 you will not be able to be seen at both sites.

If you wish to continue having your care delivered at Ardingly Street, you need take no action.

If you wish to have your care delivered at the Wellsbourne Health Centre in Whitehawk, please let us know by one of the following methods:

  • Fill in the form below, and returning it to Ardingly Court or Wellsbourne Health Centre. (Forms will also be available at both surgeries.)
  • Write to us, or e-mail us at surgery@nhs.net or text or phone us on 07927-404623.

You can also do this on behalf of your children and any dependent adults.

What happens if I do nothing?

If you do nothing you will automatically be registered at the Ardingly Street Surgery in Kemptown.

How is this different from what happens now?

At the moment, as a patient of Ardingly Court GP Practice, you can go to either the Ardingly Street clinic in Kemptown or the Whitehawk clinic.  From 1st April 2018, you can only go to one or the other, not both. We are asking you to choose which clinic you would like to go to in the future.

Can I change my mind after 1st April 2018?

Yes, you can change surgeries any time, but you will need to fill in a form to make another change.

Why is Ardingly Court Surgery making these changes?

We are doing this because of the distance between the two clinics.  It makes sense for each neighbourhood to have its own team of doctors and nurses, dedicated to giving their own patients the best possible services.

Where can I find out more?

There will be more information available, including a ‘frequently asked questions’ section, available at the surgeries and on our website http://www.ardinglycourtsurgery.co.uk .  You can call us on 07927-404623.

Local charities and community groups will also be able to help you, including:

Graham Allen, Community Development Worker, Serendipity:

 e-mail -  g.j.allen@ntlworld.com    Tel 01273 272767   mob 07753-296072

We appreciate that this might be unsettling for some patients.  Please be assured that we will ensure our services will be continuous, that you will receive the information you need, and that there are other sources of help and support available.

If you need this letter in your own language, please contact Jane Lodge, Patient and Public Engagement Manager,  NHS Brighton and Hove CCG,  Hove Town Hall,  Norton Road,  Hove BN3 4AH.   Telephone 01273 238744,  email jane.lodge1@nhs.net

Yours sincerely,

Drs Sutcliffe, Dirmikis, Greany, Barker, Turlini and Ballantyne

Patient Preference Form – to be completed only if you wish to be seen at the Wellsbourne site.
